Lost My Wee Golfing Granny Tonight...

My wee Granny died tonight... Aged 95, but she was a very keen golfer when she was a young girl.

Born and raised in a small village called Cellardike (actually spelled with a "y" but won't pass the language filter?) near Anstruther in Fife, she started playing golf when she was only 11 at the 9-hole course in Anstruther.  By all accounts she was a decent player and played right up until she left Cellardike and came to Glasgow to become a nurse at age 21.

Even at the age of 85, we still had putting competitions in her living room, trying to putt a ball into an overturned mug on the floor.

She was an inspiration to me when I eventually took up golf, and we would sit and watch the Open together on telly.

I was getting thrashed at badminton tonight by SJAClark when I got a call to say that I should really go to the hospital as she was deteriorating.

She died peacefully in her sleep.

Sorry if I'm being a bit morbid, but it's been cathartic to write a wee post about her...
