First rollup of the week today (Tues) at Guildford - Decent weather apart from a stiff breeze - Greens have been aerated so lines of holes all over making putting a bit of a lottery (that's my excuse for missing several at any rate!) - Good ball-striking round for me which resulted in 34pts off 3hcp - 14 pars & 4 bogeys - A couple of nice drives over 270y (not bad for an old 'un)
Paul

Sneaked down to New Forest today (Wed) for a friendly fourball - Wind @ 20mph made things interesting but drove ball well again & unlike yesterday had a good putting day - Went oob on 3rd but birdied my 2nd ball to only drop one shot! - Only dropped 2 more shots & birdied 5 holes to finish with a gross 67 (-2) - Needless to say my partner & I won our match quite easily ...

Ooh nice little 72 today (with a drive ob). Bottled it a bit last few holes when the holy grail of under par was a possibility. But well chuffed. Then bought some new clubs  (see other thread)

Played on friday, and was pants, was practising on par 3, until a mate said he has a unexpected day off. So played pants for 14 holes, really struggling with over the top, shank, hosel rocket whatever you call them it isn't fun. On 15 I decided to try the drill of gripping the club at top of grip and on the shaft! No hosel rockets and pretty much how id want to hit the club! Only about 10 yards loss of distance! If I can't sort my over the top I'll play golf like that lol

Got invited by a mate to go on a golf day yesterday at Horsley Lodge. Got given a 5 h'cap on arrival much to my dismay. Anyway, after a bogey bogey start and 2 points, I then ripped an 8 iron to 8ft on the par 3 3rd to win nearest the pin. Had 12 pars over the next 13 holes. A double bogey for 1point on the 17th after finding the water on approach and a par up the last sat me in for 36 points. As part of my par train, I also won nearest the pin on the 12th after hitting another 8 iron to 10ft and also won longest drive on both the 10th and 14th holes with 311yd and 299yd.

Walked in and paid £33 for breakfast, golf, meal and prize fund and didn't know anyone. Walked out with £50 well fed and a load of guys who wanted to smash my face in ...... HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Nice work Brattz! - Always nice when a plan comes together ...

I have (only) played twice this week - Monday was a Winter League game at Bramley GC and it was so wet I'm sure the course would have been closed if we hadn't had a match there - There was standing water on most greens & I started to chip with 7iron on the green to help skid through the water! - My partner & I adapted better than the opposition & won 5&4 - We also won overall, 3/1 which was great ...

Today I played in the rollup at Guildford (off 3hcp) - No rain, but it was very windy, 20mph gusting to 30mph - Some interesting tee shots into & with the wind! - I scrambled really well & only had 26 putts - 15 pars & 3 bogeys for 36pts & only 2 away from the winner ...

spent past week in the Algarve, Portugal 5 rounds of golf some were good some were bad, however today after a week of coaching I felt as tho I hit top gear, everything was on point, had it not been for misreading a few greens for pace and line I could have been looking at a sub par round as it was I shot a 77 (+5) for net (-3) which not only was the lowest gross or nett score of week I also beat the pro.

Jpx850 driver obviously knows I'm looking at upgrading it as it has been as well behaved as I've ever seen it, my Irons as ever have been very good with the added bonus of much tighter dispersion largely due to less sway when swinging,

all in all a very productive week hopefully stands me in good stead for coming season and more immportantly to defend my title as 5th Major champ :)

can't wait to take what I've learned from the week onto the soggy courses of gloriously wet Scotland :D

First round with the new JPX900 forged. My word they are awesome. Tricky greens today at Sprowston so three 3 putts but round in 78 six over. Highlight was a 185 shot from a horror lie to 8 feet with the 5 iron. Also carried the 6 167 into a stiff breeze

Mid Month Medal today, hit the ball reasonably well but the score was awful largely due to my inept putting.

Roll on the better weather when the greens are smoother!
