Played OK too. Putting was good and hit irons surprisingly alright (mp33).
My complete lack of short game is still annoying.

1st medal of season, 30 min delay to get started then, 40 minute wait at 6th, all in a 5 hour round wasn't the best although good weather and good banter made it bareable,

ended up nett 77 missed buffer by 1 shot, but given I lost 2 balls and had a penalty drop for unplayable I can take plenty of positives from round.

Hey up lads Kev is getting his handicap high ready for May he'll be off 16 soon hahahaha

Played a club match today at Guildford (friendly, so yellow tees) - Drove the ball really well, including my longest ever at Guildford (319y) - I hit another 2x 286y so not surprisingly my average was a stonking 254y, which is where I'd expect to be in summer! - Missed a few fairways (including the 319y one) but nothing taking the hole out of play (62% fairways in regulation) - Was also using my 900F irons for the first time at Guildford & hit them very well - In fact I almost holed one on the Par 3 11th where I hit 7 iron to a foot - I had another 4 birdies in the round, but despite a gross score of 1 under par (calm down, it was yellow tees!) we still only won our 4BBB match 2&1, so plenty of good golf played by the opposition & my partner too - Going back to the 900F's, what impressed me most about them was the couple of shots I hit where I really felt like I'd hit them poorly - My MP irons would have gone nowhere, maybe 60 or 70% but the 900F's were much less affected & achieved closer to 90%

Took the one lengths out today, and although I didn't score great(to be expected when all I've done is shank for months) the
clubs felt good, only hit 4 shanks aswell, the longer irons felt a lot easier to hit, and had no trouble getting the short irons in the air, I'd like a little less height to be honest, used the gap wedge a lot, and when I convinced myself to just let the club do the  work, I hit some nice chip shots! Would've scored better but would use the shorter and longer clubs a lot more to gauge how they performed! I think they could work for me and hopefully I can turn the corner.

I had a really good day. I shot 79, which doesn't sound like much, but how I went about it really left me happy.

I three putted a few times for bogeys and made a double bogey along the way, but out of the clear blue, (compared to how I've played lately), I simply hit the ball as well as I used to. If I had made only half of the putts within 15 feet, I'd have shot par or better.

Most of all, and this has left me really thinking a lot, I felt a passion to score for the first time in years. For a long time, I've played and come home thinking about a few good shots, not too often about how I scored or what I could have done to score better. I've settled for having a good time with my friends on the course.

Today, when I made a putt, I got excited. When I missed a putt, I had to control my upset. When I hit a green and left a shot close to the hole, I REALLY wanted to make the putt.

I haven't felt that kind of passion in year. It was a really good day. Now I can't wait to play again Monday.
I've had a good day if I didn't fall out of the cart...
