I do not know if there is any intrest in taking part in this event, but I'd like to inform that an Italian golf forum NextGolf.it has arranged a tournament called Golf International Forum Challenge two years running. The next challenge is to take place late July next year. The region nor courses are not yet determined, but hosting parties promised, that this will become an annual event in the Italo-European golf hobbyist community. And that they will do anything to pull out the tournament next year as well.
Form of play is 54 hole stableford in three hcp-categories; < 11.4, 11.5 - 18.4 and 18.5 - 36. Everyone takes part in the scratch stablebord as well.
Aside there is a teams cup where 3 out of 4 best stableford scores per round of each team will be taken into consideration. Also there are other challenges after the rounds each day. This year there was a LD contest and I heard that last yer they also had a short game tournament, where the profit was handed to charities.
Every competitor will play on the final day (teams cup), yet there is finals for 8 best in scratch and 16 best overall from each hcp-group.
Prior evening to final round there was a gala dinner and before the tournament starts practice rounds as well. One is included to the attending fee of 220 Euros (2009)
The happening was absolutely great and everyone enjoyed the laid back athmosphere that was promoted by our Italian hosts. We made new friends through the field and there was a discussion, that it would be really nice to have some new teams and nations presented from rest of the Europe attending the event next year.
This year there were teams from Holland, Germany, Finland and Italy ofcourse.

There was a small decrease on the number of players due to the financial situation compared to last year, but all in all there were around 70 people in the competition. Lake Garda region is very beautifull and Italy is really worth a visit.
I fell in love with the GIFT event right away and hope to see people from the UK and other European countries as well next year in Italy among others.
