Aldila RIP 70 shaft

Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:37 pm

Got this in stiff in my 910 now, hit it on the range this week and it is a beast of a shaft. Has anybody else given it a hit?

Feels really good, nice strong flight with a bit of roll out, which I don't usually get. You can go after it and it does not even attempt to snap on you.

Only played once this month, but looking forward to tomorrow now.

I posted a review of this shaft about a year ago on the forum. I thought it was awesome too!!!

db., I recently bought my r11s with the Aldila RIP Phenom 50 shaft and it is fantastic! I had to turn the 10.5 loft down to 9 to prevent ballooning, and it now " kicks " the ball perfectly, with tight dispersion for a lightweight shaft. I prefered the feel of the 50 over the 70. I believe Poulter plays the same shaft in his Cobra ZL in an x-stiff, while mine is stiff. I liked it so much I had the same shaft put in a r11s 4 wood ( 17* ), turned the loft to 15.5*, and it is longer, higher, and straighter than my previous 3 wood.

After trying many different shafts I plumped for this one for my 910 over 12 months ago now. It was the best then and after many rounds of golf with it I would not go with anything else.

I don't often kiss my golf clubs but I have quite a lot recently with my callaway razr fit driver with the Aldila rip'd 60g stiff flex shaft. Best club in the bag at the moment. It's a shame that my putter is the worst !!

This shaft is just outstanding. Played 36 with it today and it helped set up 2 eagles. The best flight to any driver I have ever owned, and the ball rolls out at the end of it! I was sick of carrying the ball 260 to have a drive go 262, only to see friends carry it 225 and roll past me.

As I have lost count of the times I have said this on the forum...

"It's ALL in the shaft!!" ;-)

Is this the RIP Alpha or the Phenom?

I had a fitting at Titleist and the Phenom and Pro Launch Red came out about even but I hit more with the Red so I'm leaning towards that.

Both gave great figures tho.
