Do I need a 3 wood?

Not bought any clubs in ages, so thinking about a 3 or 4 wood
Any ideas guys?

A 17 deg hybrid could be a more versatile option!

Got an 18 hybrid already D

If you're gonna get a 3-wood, get the 3s (13.5 deg).

If you already have an 18 deg hybrid, the 15 deg normal 3-wood will be too close to the 18 deg.

Im a little different here....

I carry a 15* 3 wood, but I only hit it off the T for short 4s, tight 4s, and when my driver is not dialed in.

I also carry a 16* hybrid. This is the club I use for the long shots on par 5s, etc....I will also hit it off the T. Will use the hybrid from the fairway or rough....The 16* gets tons more use than the 3 wood.

I only carry 3 wedges. My Callaway X Forged have the 'c' grind so I can open the face as much as I want around the greens. I find no use for a 60* or higher lofted club. 56* is the highest lofted club I carry.

I've been hitting my MP650 hybrids (19 & 22) like a dream, so decided to get the 17.

It is great to hit off the tee and easy to hit straight. I'm not sure yet how the distance compares to my 3 wood (MP650 15), but I bet it's not far away. Last few weeks I've been hitting this baby down the middle and further than the rest of the 4ball with drivers!

Just need to decide if there is a need to carry 17, 19 & 22 in the hybrids........are the 17 & 19 a little too similar?

Go for a proper hybrid Bubba in the 17...

Just found a F50 3 wood that I forgot all about, in the garage. Will get that te gripped and have a hit.

I have all 3 (17, 19 & 22) MP650 hybrids and although I would not have chosen this gapping arrangement, I find that they have lovely distance gaps between them.

All 3 are in my bag and will stay there!

I find myself in the same situation, I jump from a ping 20 degree hybrid to my driver which is a mp630. I love the hybrid off the tee on par 4s, I think a 3 wood would be good on days the big stick is misbehaving but I'm still unsure as anything further than 200m where it requires a clean hit with the hybrid seems risky to me especially off the deck.

One thing I would say that relates to the degree of 3 wood, it makes more sense to look at the distance gaps and where they fit in with your hybrid and driver, taking into consideration that there is a change in angle AND shaft length. Just my 2 pence/cents.

I carry 13 clubs so maybe a 3 wood won't hurt haha.

Do you have the PX shaft in your hybrids Dee, or the Orochi?
I love the Orochi in the 3 wood & hybrids and can't decide whether to get the driver.
Just wondered if the shaft performs similar in both.
