I always find Darley easier at this time of year as you don't get that wicked bounce that sometimes happens during the summer. Played all the par3s well yesterday with only one bogey at the 12th when I missed long and left due to the wind. It's always an easy game if you can score well on the short holes.

16th is quite an enticing wee hole, raided tee and a wide receptive front to the green. makes you want to hit a good shot there.

Indeed - back in the day, it was a flushed MP32 6-iron to a pin at the back/centre of the green. One bounce 12" in front and then in the hole...
It is a paradoxical but profoundly true and important principle of life that the most likely way to reach a goal is to be aiming not at that goal itself but at some more ambitious goal beyond it. - Arnold Toynbee

Nicely played.

How has the weather been for you guys recently? Are the courses still mostly in a somewhat playable state?

I played Saturday on a calm sunny day with just a tee shirt and a Warmalite. Sunday was a little breezy and colder (wore a wooly hat) but still fine. Bit squishy underfoot. Full tees, full greens

We have had 20cm here today and it's still coming down. Roll on the end of January when my mates and I travel a long way south to play golf for a week
