Managed to get out twice in the last week.
Saturday was a 2ball better ball. We scored 64, 7 under. Personally I shot an 81, with 3 double bogey's. Progress and a good start to hopefully a good season ahead. Ball striking was really good. Hardly missed a fairway with the big stick.
Today, shot 80. Ball striking still good, but it's still back to my old gripe. I hit shot after shot out middle of the face but get more air time than distance. If I adjust my irons in my head, ie my 4 iron is the same as my mates 5 then we are relatively close to each other. But I'm still really pleased with the MX300's. Easier to hit a bit than the 62's.
But 1 last thing that I felt last week has been something this forum taught me, or advised me. I played all winter with a few lessons and working on my grip, but couldn't get the feel for it at all. I have really small hands. I was advised to read Ben hogans modern fundamentals. That grip was hard to get used to as well. But a bit of trust in Ben, and last week it felt correct. That way you struck the shot and just knew it was good. Lucky maybe, but time after time I could feel the difference this grip made helping me. All to do with the wrist *****. Now to work through the rest of the book and I'm sure that il manage to flight the ball lower soon.
Swing well
