I've always thought that Titleist woud be my second choice after Mizuno but looking at their new range of irons I'm not so sure.   Don't know how they play but I think there are better looking iron out there - Mizzies plus Callaway X Forged and Nike.  As a range of irons to suit all abilities, and enable progression from cavity backs through to blades I think Mizuno has got it cracked and looking forward to seeing what the new range looks like.

As for balls, I play the DX2 and don't have any complaints. For the money it's a good ball and I can't justify the extra £s for Pro Vs as at my level I don't see any benefit.

my own opinion....tourstage / bridgestone is the nearest competitor in irons performance, feel and design. don't know why bridgestone is not as popular as they deserve. but mizzy still softer even with the premium tourstage line.

Titleist irons. Meh.

Mizuno MP-S ball > Pro V1

Therefore Mizuno > Titleist.

I have to admit - the Bridgestone irons are the ones most likely to make me stop scrolling on those Tournament picture threads, but they just aren't big over here - they're about as widespread as Yonex (you hardly ever see them on the course). i could quite happily play a virtually full bag from either

The bridgestones look like a not as good version of the 64 and the yonex clubs are a not as good version of the 69...

I have switched to the Wilson DX3, a little bit better round the greens than the DX2 but distance is superb. Personally Im getting about 5-10 yds further with my drives BUT alot straighter over the PROV1's i used to use. Ive never been a spinner of the ball as I was brought up on and around links courses so having a PROV1's stop and spin ability isnt worth it for the extra cost. Dont get me wrong, if i got given Prov's to use for free then I would do, but like most people its down to cost and affordability (for that read: keeping OIC Household happy by not spending too much on golf gear)

As for the irons, IMO only the MB irons are even close to Mizzies for looks. I personally think the rest of the line up look a bit chunky or cheap. Driver and Woods, now thats a completely different scenario........
