MP-650 hybrid owners, what other model/loft did you play.

I am "THIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIS" close to getting Mizunos for my next irons and I now have my eyes on the MP-650 hybrids.  I know the facts are the 650 series is low launch/low spin.

I am trying to educate myself on the right lofts.  If you play a 19* model did you find it flew closer to others 17-18*?  And for the 22* model was it more like others 20* models?  I have tried the 17 & 22 on a LM.  I couldn't elevate the 17* at all and the 22* was a rocket!!  I was 15yds longer than my 21* Hogan CFT.

The set I am TRYING to build is:  MP-Fli Hi #4 and MP-64 5-PW.  I hit my current 4i 200yds.  I hit the Fli-Hi a touch longer so what I am trying to build in my set is a 215-220yd and a 235-240yd club in addition to my driver-3 wood.

Other models I have tried on the L/M for a point of reference would be Adams LS XTD 17* (245avg), Anser 17* 240 avg, TM RBZ Stage 2 Tour 16.5 245, 18.5* 235,  Ping G25 20* 220avg,  913H 17* 235 &  21* 215.

So I would like to hear what the yardage difference of the 19 & 22 models offer.  I will be buying them online since they are a discontinued model.  In my current hybrid set I use a DG SL-S300 in my 16* and a S300 in my 21*.  I am not opposed to go going with a lighter weight shaft in the 19 and a heavier one in the 22 to increase the gap/decrease the distance.

I hope this makes sense on what I am planning to do.

I play three MP650 hybrids:

17, 19 and 22 deg. All fitted with PX 6.0 graphite shafts.

I use the 17deg as a 5-wood replacement, the 19 deg as a 3-iron replacement and the 22 as a 4-iron replacement.  Then my irons are standard MP69's from 5 - PW.

I fing the gapping works perfectly.  I love my MP650's because they are just soooooo easy to hit from any lie!

Interesting,  I would have thought it the 22* would be more of a 3i and 19* a 2i.  I guess I got some thinking to do!

Thanks Deemac!

I had a 17 deg 650.... Just could not get on with it. I went to a jpx fli hi instead. Both the 3 and 4 iron replacements. Much easier to hit

I had the 22 stock stiff. I found it still had a pretty powerful flight. The beauty of hybrids is one club can cover a bigger range of distances than most clubs. When I had the 22 I went driver 3w 22 4 iron and never had any gaps.

If I recall DeeMac didn't use his 3 wood for a while as his 17 did that job?

True BP, but that was more to do with the fact that I didn't get on with my MP650 3-wood and just used my 17 deg hybrid as my second longest club.  But since getting my old F-60 3-Wood back from Jonesy, I now use it again...

Have the 19 and the 22 both with stock shafts. Good distance and not hard to hit well.
