Just read in GD that even the tour players used to have general stats of 7 per cent deviation on full shots in direction while the number on half or less than full was 15.

Due to that founding Tom Kite put a 60-deg wedge into his bag.

So how do you guys manage your game plans? Do you play to leave a full wedge or alike distance to approach from, or do you try to muscle it closer if it's makeable with your best effort on par-5s at least.

I always try to leave myself a full SW shot into a green. So I try and not get any closer than 90 yards most of the time.

I will very often select a club that leaves me at least this distance.

I am just learning to leave myself 80-90 yards. I have always been in the 'smash it as near as you can' brigade, but with the extreme dry weather we have had down south it is far easier to control a full approach.
